  • ABOUT

    Clarissa lives in Richmond where she teaches high school English in Chesterfield County Public Schools. She began writing poetry in her early teens. Some of her favorite influences are Carolyn Kreiter-Foronda, Sylvia Plath, Rita Dove, Elizabeth Bishop, Seamus Heaney, Marianne Moore, Dylan Thomas, Robert Frost, Erin Belieu, Adrian Matejka, Kevin Prufer, Cate Marvin, Robert Lowell, and many more. She attended James Madison University and earned a Bachelor's in English with a Creative Writing Concentration. In 2018, she received her MFA in Poetry from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Since 2018, she has been a submission reader for Sugar House Review. She's currently working on the manuscript for her second poetry book. Clarissa also loves painting acrylics and watercolors. Please see below for a list of her publications.
